Born and raised in the Philippines, Hera Nalam (she/they) first came to Treaty One Territory at 16 years old. Ever since then she has immersed herself in the local creative platforms all over Winnipeg from music, theatre, film and fashion and is making waves as a true inter-disciplinary artist.

On top of her acting career, Hera has also grown a career in music. Hera started singing at an early age having grown up in a family of singers. She sang in vocal jazz and choir throughout high school and upon graduating from the Just TV Program at Broadway Neighbourhood Centre, Hera started writing her own music and performing them with her guitar across the city of Winnipeg.
Blending pop, jazz funk and rnb influences with a twist of drama from Original Pilipino Music, Hera’s sweet voice and playful lyrics have swayed listeners in multiple local stages including the Park Theatre and the Goodwill Social Club. Her music and natural stage presence has also charmed audiences as far as New York city when she opened up the stage at Bowery Poetry Club in April 2020.
Hera attended the University of Winnipeg and acquired her Bachelor of Arts with Honours for Theatre and Film Performance in 2019. She wowed audiences with her charm when she first performed on school productions at university such as:

Time and The Conways (University of Winnipeg).
Coming out of University, she was quick to book performances all over the city of Winnipeg.

Hera also dabbles into film and landed gigs including stunt gigs for Escaping The Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story (2019). She was last seen on screen on Winnipeg's hit Rom-Com of 2020, screening on over 8 theatres across Canada, I Propose We Never See Each Other Again After Tonight (2020) when she debuted on film as the lead actress. Hera received high praise from critics all over Canada including the Winnipeg Free Press, The Globe and Mail as well as the National Post. Hera’s performance also earned her a spot in iHeart Radio Ace Burpee’s list of Most Fascinating Manitobans of 2020.
Hera first engaged in community work when she graduated from the Just TV program at Broadway Neighbourhood Centre in 2016 as a participant. She continued to volunteer her time and supported the centre through kitchen work and also kept a mentor role to other participants. Over the years she has worked her way up to earn the position from youth facilitator to program coordinator for an After School Leaders program at Just TV. She also manages the centre’s website and social media.
You will catch Hera often on a Wednesday night at Raffy's Cafe singing with her band on her own show called #LateNightJamsWithHera while rocking a chic fit styled by her co-owned fashion collective Kreative Fvckers.
